STAR WARS

I was in the fourth grade when we saw Star Wars. It was in Harrison Plaza with my father and my brother. Afterwards, I remember playing the lightsabre scene with my brother. As I remember it, we both wanted to be Darth Vader.

That was the first time, my father ever brought us out to watch a movie.

My Lauchcast Radio Station

I've been dabbling with Yahoo Launchcast. Aside from the quality (which is not really up to par unless you switch to the premium station), it's ok. It plays the music I appreciate based on the choices I made. And the selection gets better tuned to my tastes the more I rate the songs that are played.

Want to get a taste of my music preference? Mozy on to my station and see...

THE VIZCARRA COAT OF ARMS

After my blog about the spanish blood thing, my brother sent me a picture of the Coat of Arms of our family's ancestors in Spain. It seems, we have some... albeit it's watered down already...

Notice the lack of artistic creativity on the picture. It does run in our genes. Posted by Hello

HELLO KITTY RANSOMED

This was taken about three months ago. Actually, it's a ransom video. You should see it, really hilarious. Well, hilarious since we forgot we couldn't record audio... Posted by Hello

WHY? WHY? WHY?

So, some of our officemates went out to buy food. I asked one of them if she could go and get me a Big Mac meal (supersized, of course). When she returned, I opened the bag and two orders of fries (one large and one regular).

I started eating the burger and offered Jed, one of my officemates, the regular. So, while we were eating the fries. We were hypothesizing why there were two orders not just one. We finished them off in five minutes. And had four stories why there was an extra order in.

All the while, we could have just asked Chit (the one who bought them), across my desk, why there was one extra...

TROY: Hollywood vs. Homer

" What follows is a partial list of discrepancies between "Troy the Big-Budget Hollywood Movie" and "Troy the Epic Poem and Archeological History".

This list was provided by Dr. James Holoka, Professor Foreign Languages and History at Eastern Michigan University...
"

-Impress your friends and family by pointing these discrepancies out.
- Act like a literary sno... I mean purist by saying these out loud and "tsk-tsking' on why they changed the story around
- Oh and be sure to wear glasses, a pipe and develop the Jeff Goldblum like stutter (the one he did in Jurassic Park) to complete the overall image.

Oh and I found out, this is not 'Hollywood vs Homer Simpson'.

Oh and I can also post a snapshot of a webpage using Hello! Now, isn't this a neat idea? Posted by Hello

BloggerBot

Now Blogger users can upload pictures using HELLO. I used Hello for the previous post and it was as easy as picking a picture, adding the caption and pressing a button. Real easy.

If it's a picture in the web, the easiest way (meaning, free) is to download the picture to a local folder then using that file to upload to your blog.

Oh, did I mention that this is a free service by Blogger.

Can't wait for this one to come out. This reminds me of The Specials. Anyone remember that movie? Posted by Hello

PAST POST

THis is one of my favorite posts. I should do this more often. Pointing out my past posts, I mean.

MY COUSIN VINNIE

Vincent, but we call him Bubbles (when he was young, he would disappear like a bubble popped when he did something wrong, nawawala parang bula). We went through rough times together. We were both branded the black sheep. It was just the two of us that stuck together thru thick and thin. He was our official third brother. No matter what happens, we try and find time to see each other, as well as our families.

Anyway, I got a text from him Tuesday night. He wanted to hook up and go out. Well, we did. From 11pm to 4am. Hence the post below. Last night, he texted again, this time we hooked up from 1am to 3am. We had a hell of a good time. Well, I think too much of a good time. With Tess in an out of country meeting. Plus, she's leaving again the next day when she comes back on Friday for another out of country meeting. I guess, this is the time I should be strong.

Anyway, he's one of two of my favorite cousins. Gerald, I guess if he's reading this will be texting (SMS) me in awhile complaining why we didn't text him to join. Anyway, we're getting together again this Friday. Oh, and Gerald, go text.

Cinnamon Puppy

I'm proud! It seems my Lulu is getting some style into her writing. Now if I can only correct her punctuation and grammar...

TUESDAY NIGHT

Daily Log:
Two cups of coffee
Three shots of tequila
four glasses of red wine.

Well, as you can see, I wasn't really sane after that night. That morning at home, I thanked God. I mean, I really thanked God. And for those two or three regular readers out there, you know that I don't go to Church and I am somewhat an agnostic. I got home with nary a scratch.

And to think I had to drive Tess to the airport one hour after arriving home. Talk about having a hangover and being tipsy at the same time...

I HAVE SINNED

I thought I had self control. Going to the places where I work. But that Tuesday night, temptation gave in.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT

Daily Log:
Three cups of coffee
One San Mig Light Beer

FATHER-0 DAUGHTERS-1

Lulu and Gabbi have been badgering me to get them Sims Making Magic. I told them that if they ate their veggies for seven straight days, I'll get them the game. Secretly, I've been sabotaging it by having no veggie dishes on the fifth day or so. (I know, bad father, bad father).

Well, I forgot to fix it last week and they are now happily playing the game.

Now, they want a hamster. I told them 15 days for the hamster and 15 days for the cage. Let's see how this goes.

A REAL QUICK ONE

Having spent four years of my teenage life in the US, most Fil-Ams I have met always say they are part Spanish. I mean, almost always. Even the ones with noses wider than my forehead, or eyes narrower than my mind, or those sho... you get what I mean?

Living here, I have never heard anyone here claim that they have spanish blood. I know I don't, have spanish blood, I mean.

Why is that?

Jammed Phones Alter 'Idol' Tallies

"Many would-be 'American Idol' voters are disenfranchised by overburdened phone lines and by 'power dialers' who hog the system..."American Idol" producers acknowledged power-dialers were casting thousands of votes.

In its statement Sunday, Fox said there are procedures in place to prevent individuals from "unfairly influencing the outcome of the voting," adding that producers can remove votes identified as power-dialing...
"

Lest people start talking about the Philippines and it's voting irregularities, even in the US there seems to be a problem with it.

Oh, and the presence of a Filipino contestant (Filipino-American, actually) in the contest is just coincidental.

JUST FELT LIKE POSTING THIS

"There are no choices. Nothing but a straight line. The illusion comes afterwards, when you ask 'Why me?' and 'What if?'. When you look back and see the branches, like a pruned bonsai tree, or forked lightning. If you had done something differently, it wouldn't be you, it would be someone else looking back, asking a different set of questions..."

DAILY LOG

Anyway, starting today, I'll try and post what I have drunk the previous night and what time I got home.

Today, it's:
Two (2) glasses of red wine (Vina Santa Carolina Premium Syrah)
Seven (7) cups of coffee
One (1) Coca Cola
One (1) Sprite

I'd also put in the places I go to but then that would be freaky...

HONEY, I'M HOME!

I get home everyday around 3am. That's everyday. Weekends I get home a bit later. It's been my regular grind ever since I started working as an On Premise AE.

So, what happens when I get home? Do I go straight to bed and crash? Actually, no.

I get this second wind whenever I step thru the front door. The first thing I do is take off my shoes and boot up the computer. While it's booting up XP, I'm changing my clothes. Afterwards, it's surf, email, and blog. Rinse then repeat.

I can't shake this routine off. It's like a built in autopilot for me.

You think I'd be like this for years?

Who's Leading The Philippine Presidential Elections?

Semi-Real-Time Elections Statistics, courtesy of Guttervomit.org

"This little PHP-generated gizmo displays the (semi) real-time election statistics in a nice bar graph as they're being counted. The background image changes to reflect whoever is currently leading the race..."

ABS-CBNNEWS.COM

"Arroyo, 57, a U.S.-trained economist and daughter of a former president, had the support of big business, charismatic Christian groups and much of the political elite as she campaigned largely on her track record and Poe's inexperience...

...Poe, 64, who left school at 15, inherited many of Estrada's poor supporters. He was also backed by Imelda Marcos, the widow of dictator Ferdinand Marcos, whose two-decade rule ended in 1986 in the first of two "people power" uprisings....His reticence on policy issues rattled financial markets.
"

I didn't vote for GMA. I didn't vote for FPJ. Reading this article on ABS-CBN, I now have an image of what fair, balanced, and objective means.

NEW COMMENT PAGE

I'm switching over to the comment service of Blogger. My gratitude to Haloscan for hosting my comments for the longest time.

With the new service, I get:

1. The ability to delete comments (Although, I only get a smattering from time to time, why would I?)
2. A service that's within Blogger.

ALthough I notice that in Haloscan it is easier to post comments since it only opens up one page. With Blogger, the first page is to view comments while the posting requires another page.

Should I just revert back to Haloscan? Drop me a *uhurm* comment.

WINDOWS XP SP2 also for pirated copies

"Both legitimate and unlicensed users of Microsoft's XP operating system software will be able to download the Service Pack 2 security patch for free..."

Whoa! I guess half of the computers in the Philippines will be able to download the Service Pack. That's of course if people know about downloading SPs. I mean, I've seen companies with Windows 98 that doesn't even have any of the patches released for it.

My daughter, Lulu, is 9 years old. She wants GMA to win as President. I'm not a GMA supporter.

*Sigh* I'm beginning to see fatherhood is going to be rough.

Cell Phone Mosquito Repellent

During summer nights, there’s nothing worse than a swarm of mosquitoes. But, now those lousy days are coming to an end because hi-tech cell phones can help users repel mosquitoes...The mosquito repelling service uses a particular spectrum of sound waves, which are undetectable by human ears. But the frequencies annoy mosquitoes, SK Telecom said...

They say it really doesn't work. Besides, a mosquito coil is cheaper.

NICK JOAQUIN

Last week, a National Artist passed away. There were no long TV coverages. No breaking news interview with relatives and friends. No long processions to the cemetery. There weren't even any conspiracy theories or scandalous tidbits about his life.

It was worth just a few minutes on the TV. A few articles in the newspapers. It was all so antiseptic. No sadness. No sense of loss. No care.

I guess attention like that are just reserved for matinee idols who die in beach resorts and talk show hosts who get beat up.

SIX YEARS WITH WHO?

I'll just get some things off of my chest.

1. Religion and Politics don't mix.
2. The past three years weren't exactly the highlight of my life.
3. Running a country isn't the same as making a movie. At least in a movie, you can reshoot a scene if it gets botched up.
4. I don't think our country can last another ten years with this kind of absurdity. Whoever the next President is.
5. Whatever happens, I'll be here for the long haul.
6. Roco? Why not?

Onel de Guzman's rejected thesis proposal at AMA Computer College

"The researcher decided to develop this program because the researcher believes that it will be helpful to a lot of people specially Internet users to get Windows passwords such as Internet Accounts to spend more time on Internet without paying..."

So, who is Onel de Guzman? Well, if you remember the ILOVEYOU virus, he's name would ring a bell. He was never prosecuted because at the time, there was no law covering what he was suspected of doing. His whereabouts are unknown. The rumor that he's working for Microsoft is a hoax. Last heard, four years ago, he was planning to finish his studies and is living with his sister.

Anyway, reading his thesis says a lot. Scary. Really scary.

THE GENA LEE NOLIN EXPERIMENT

Well, because of my post about the Gena Lee Nolin Sex Tape Free Download, the hits for the past two days just went up the roof.

It seems that because of the spate of reality based TV shows, even pornography has to have that "reality" component.

A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS

Before you vote for your favorite Presidential candidate, ask yourself these questions:

1. What is your candidate's platform for education?
2. Does your candidate have a DEFINITE plan to tackle corruption? Something like a twelve step program or something?
3. What is your candidate's opinion on the the banning of distribution of condoms in health care centers?
4. Is your candidate a big government person? An administration that likes to be involved in everything about the country?
5. What is your candidate's plan for resuscitating the economy? And I mean an actual working plan.
6. What is your candidate's stand on the insurgency problem? Any definite plans to quell it?
7. What is the absolute priority of your presidential candidate? Why? How will he or she tackle it?

So, do you know the answers to the questions above? I do hope that just because you feel that you're voting the least evil means that it's the wise choice.

Until now, I don't know who to vote for president. Somehow, I have this weird feeling that my vote doesn't really count and won't affect the outcome...

THIS IS LIKE A CRUEL JOKE

Everyday, the earliest I get to sleep is around three to three thirty in the morning. The only time that there's a reason for me to stay up til four was last night, to see the eclipse. Louella and Gabbi were excited to see it since they haven't seen an eclipse yet. I told them I'd wake them up.

Guess what? I was so tired, I slept through the eclipse. Right now, I need therapy.
