It all started with the so-called "Dumaguete Scandal", an X-rated video purported to be hidden camera footage of three matrons being serviced by a local stud in a tawdry rented room in that sleepy Southern university town...This is an old article on how Philippine Porn movies are being marketed. It does seem dated but the "Scandal" series seem to be still selling. It seems with Philippine porn, it's not who's starring in it but what the title of the movie is.
...More to the point, the underground success of "Dumaguete Scandal" spawned a mini industry in low-budget porn masquerading as reality video. The next hit in what would turn out to be a long-running series was called the "Makati Scandal", shot in a motel room which could have been anywhere, featuring amateur actors fooling around with a video cam. This in turn spawned a whole series of amateur videos: the "Manila Scandal", "Quezon City Scandal", "Malabon Scandal", "Marikina Scandal", ad infinitum.
Some creative marketing guy decided to repackage the original "Makati Scandal" footage under a new title, "La Salle Scandal", which spawned an entire new series purportedly shot in those hotbeds of unbridled sex, exclusive schools. The "La Salle Scandal" was followed by the "UP Diliman Scandal" and the "Ateneo Scandal"....
