I'm trying my hand at running a nation. This is how it's doing:

Its intelligent population of 36 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.
The large government juggles the competing demands of Education, Law & Order, and Defence. The average income tax rate is 25%, but much higher for the wealthy. A large private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, followed by Cheese Exports and Arms Manufacturing.
Military spending is on the increase, the mining industry is making inroads into environmentally sensitive areas, gambling is outlawed, and the death penalty has been reintroduced. Crime is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Showbizlandia's national animal is the Pony, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Kusing.
Showbizlandia is ranked 1433rd in the region and 23,740th in the world for Largest Cheese Export Sector. "
