"the more Bvlgari she wore...... the more insuferable she became..."
"...if you buy Quail Eggs from the Bus station in Buendia...you'd just have enough time to pop the last egg in your mouth when you get to the Lipa Exit..."

Wow. I wish I could write like Mec. Somehow, she has that magic bag where even the most boring of things like a bus ride suddenly becomes interesting enough for you to try it. Or even ideas that are so obvious that you miss it, like the smell of memories.

Anyway, this is my new link to my regular blog reads. See I have a rule to myself, only 13 blog links. Not one more. Not one less.

Why 13? Well, because 12 is not enough and 14 is too much. That's why. Silly rabbit.

World of Warcraft Worldwide Support

"...World of Warcraft servers will be located around the globe in order to support our gaming community worldwide..."

Yes! That's one hurdle ummm... hurdled. Next thing now is to snag the game. And it's off to become an Orc Warrior!

Problem is there's no WoW available here! What have I done to deserve this?

Hackenslash

Trying to find any news about World of Warcraft, I was pointed to this site by Joey Alarilla.

Joey by the way informed me that WoW might probably coming here to our shores end year or even next year. To quote him in his email to me, "...As for the local version of WoW Philippines, no official word yet on when it would be launched here, 'coz reports have it that three local game publishers are in a bidding war. What they're saying is that the earliest it might arrive (depending on who wins) is 3rd or 4th quarter of this year, though one company said that 2006 is a more realistic date...". DANG! But I need my fix now!

Anyway I am digressing, this site is a throve for local Philippine gamers. It's got that local flavor in it.

But cool and all, I still don't have World of Warcraft.

No way CAP can pay

"...Osmena also assured the plan holders that the Senate committees tasked to investigate the scam will grill the officials of CAP as well as the Securities and Exchange Commission to find out why the company was allowed to sell additional plans despite its unstable financial condition..."

At last something worth the Senate's attention.

Broadcast journalists' work critiqued - INQ7.net

"...some local TV people's lack of training and technical knowledge was too obvious to be ignored. To cover up, they focused on individual stories, and were thus unable to give viewers the big picture..."

Two things.

One. Saying that only some tv newspersons lack training and technical knowledge is a stretch. I would say that MOST of them are.

Two. Calling our local newspersons Broadcast JOURNALISTS is a misnomer. They're more talking heads and empty headed. Well, MOST of them are.

Now I know How Smeagol Feels Like

This has been eating into my nerves for weeks! I just have to have this. I just have to! Even Ebay Philippines don't have it.

I mean, if it's now out in Korea, why not here? I hear they're looking for a local partner here. From what I gather, PLDTPlay, the guys from MU Online, and one other company are vying for it.

Now with this bit of news, do I have to hold off getting the US version of the game and wait for the local launch? Oh! The agony! The agony!

But then again, I don't have enough moolahs to buy the US version anyway...

It's basically rice fried with the oil of the chorizo. And it's mixed in with vigan longganiza. Really really good.

Once in awhile, I feel like posting personal stuff.

I guess this is one of those days. Well, sort of..

Like Budjette, I'm bitten by the bug. The problem is I don't know what to write about.

I mean I could write about the affair I had last year. Or how I ended it a week before my wedding anniversary. But, is it readworthy?

Or should I write about the killer headache I had yesterday. A sure premonition of an impending eathquake. And how it was a disappointing 5.4 in General Santos City. Well disappointing given the fact that I texted a couple of friends yesterday afternoon thinking it was going to be a big one. Would this pique your interest?

I could write about Lulu, my eldest daughter, and how she is now in Book V of Harry Potter but her math grades are down. Or how about Gabbi's, my youngest daughter, new obsession on making me quit smoking. And now, I'm always looking over my shoulder whenever I smoke in the den. I could write about that, but who'd care?

How about the people I meet in my line of work? A friend I wrote about before has a new girlfriend. His new one is as screwed up as the old one. This time, the girl is numb. Cold. Frigid. But also meek and sensitive. What a combination, I tell you. I know her so I know. But would writing about them be interesting?

Ah never mind. Maybe what I should do is not think what to write, but why I write.

RP casualty in Phuket won't get benefits

"RELATIVES of one of five confirmed Filipino fatalities in Phuket, Thailand will not get 220,000 pesos worth of benefits from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA)..."

I'm conflicted with this one. On one hand, I remember Angel de la Cruz, the truck driver kidnapped in Iraq, and how he was given tons of support. Even a new house. I don't think he deser... oh wait. I'm digressing. This is about OWWA.

Where was I? Oh yeah...

On the other, how could OWWA help if the victim is not even a member anymore?

NBI team leaves Sunday for Phuket

"...The team will help identify Filipinos killed in the wake of tsunamis that devastated the coastlines of Thailand and several other Asian countries last week...

Sorry if I nitpick but how will they know how to identify filipino corpses from other nationals? Also, isn't if kind of bad form to say that we're sending a team just for filipinos.

I saw one of them interviewed saying that (well, as i understood it) the priority is to identify filipinos but they'll help with other nationals as well.

I mean it is good that we're sending people to assist our countrymen there but wouldn't it have been better to say that they were going there to help in the relief operations?

ADDITIONAL

With reference to The C at's comments:

The thought of going to a place where thousands have died made me dismiss the thought that this was a junket. But then again, why Phuket? I mean, don't we have any countrymen in the other places as well?

Did they bring any beachwear? I mean during time off, they could...

New Year, New Wallpaper

This used to be my old wallpaper. It has been for the past two years. I guess, I have to have a new look.

Now, it's this one.

Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away, just has that right kind of magic. Not as loud and bang bang as the usual animated movies like Shrek or The Incredibles. I enjoyed those as well, don't get me wrong.

Somehow though, those quiet moments that Spirited Away has is kind of really absorbing. Even Tess enjoyed it immensely that she watched it twice in just one day. I do recommend finding the dubbed english version since the subtitled one kind of jumbles up the words.

The kids thouroughly enjoyed it. Oh wait. Let me backtrack. They didn't just enjoy it, they LOVED it. As well as Miyazaki's earlier movie,Tonari No Totoro. A movie for kids that doesn't even have any bad guys in it. Gabbi even sings the song when she plays with her toys. "To to to totoro... To to to totoro..." Posted by Hello

Star Wars Holiday Special

Here it is. The link to the abbreviated Star Wars Holiday special from the late 70s. Too bad they took out the animated short. That was the best part.

Relive the ummm... excitement. Everyone's here, Han, Luke, Leia, Chewie, Artoo, Threepio, etc etc. It still has the Star Wars magic but with a twist of the ummm... The Muppet Show. Plus listen to Carrie Fisher sing!
