STILL ON THE FRITZ

It's been more than two months and my connection is still neither here nor there. It's weird that I haven't been given much attention while PLDT is still full blast on their DSL advertisements and such.

Come to think of it, they only advertise how fast the connection is. Not how good or fast their customer service is.

Well, that's living in the Philippines...

Paging Gerry Kaimo?

Be back real soon. I hope.

The Electra Woman and Dyna Girl Webopedia

I'm in a retro mood. Anyway, while looking for Dr. Shrinker sites, I stumbled into this site. It's got tons of material regarding the super heroes Elektra Woman and DynaGirl.

Don't remembe them? Enter the movie site and listen to the opening theme. I still prefer Dr. Shrinker over them though.

Get Firefox

So Firebird is now Firefox. Honestly, after using Mozilla and Firebird, I never looked back to Internet Explorer. Except of course for a very few sites that it can't load properly. Try it. You won't regret it.

Boondock Queen

Memories!

And this Queen has a lot of them!

Remember the ATARI?

Remember this? Before Tekken, we had Combat! And before the Playstation, we had the Atari 2600.

"Atari originally released the Atari Video Computer System (VCS) in October of 1977. Later renamed Atari 2600, the system dominated the industry and broke new ground for home gaming. The Atari Legacy lives on and Atari enthusiasts are still playing their favorite games from the past using clever Atari emulators on their current home computers. You can download the Stella Atari 2600 emulator as well as other Atari system emulators and all your favorite classic games here at Atariland!"

Yup, we now can relive classic games such as Combat, Basketball, Asteroids, Space Invaders, PacMan etc. etc. On our PC too! I've downloaded it and man, the memories just keep flooding in.

And as an added bonus, this site has ALL and I mean ALL the Atari games ever put out available for download.

Beeps and blips have never been so fun. So betray your age and make your graphics card happy. Go get 'em cowboy.

SLOOOW DAY

SLOOOW DAY

Time seems to move as if it's in knee deep in mud. I mean, it's just past 12am and there's nothing to do.

Tess and I are in a minor tiff so we have this silent treatment going on between us. It's mostly Q and A right now. Like;

Me: Where's the cheese.
Tess: The good Cheddar or the magnolia?
Me: The good one.
Tess: It's in the fridge

Note: Both of 'em are in the fridge.

Probably tomorrow, we''ll kiss and make up. Wonder who's going to make the first move.

Tamagotchi digital pets to return, and this time they breed

Ack! Tamagotchi is coming back! Would this herald the resurrection of Jolina's career?

Oh. And now it can breed! The Tamagotchi, I mean.

Bush backs alien evidence

Bush backs alien evidence

"George W Bush says there is mounting evidence to suggest there is alien life on other planets.
The US President used his budget document to declare that there may be 'space aliens' to be discovered...
"

This is old news (Feb 2003) but I wonder what kind of evidence he's talking about.

Nasa denies 'sexing up' mars images

Nasa denies 'sexing up' mars images

Few may know about this controversy about Mars not being red at all and really looks earthlike.

With an FPJ presidency coming, it wouldn't matter to me if Mars was actually green.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Here's a series of questions. Don't think evidence or probable cause (This is the Philippines, remember?). Just answer it with your gut feel.

A cop is accused of harrasment. You think it's true?

You get held up and the robber gets your cellphone. Will you go to the police station halfway across town to report it?

A drug dealer boasts he's protected by cops. Do you believe him?

A rich person gets kidnapped by persons with powerful weapons. You think they're civilians? Or cops?

You see some suspicious drug activity near your area. You think you'd get some assistance if you call the cops?

A bank robbery. Civilians? Or cops?

Has a cop ever helped you personally?

Have YOU met a bad cop?

These questions just popped in my head a couple of minutes ago. Really sorry if I have offended anyone. I mean, there's nothing really offensive with the questions. Right?

HITCHIKERS GUIDE

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy now a movie

First it was a radio show. Then publishes as a series of books. A Television series followed, then an Infocom Text adventure game.Well, now HGttG is going to be a movie!

First it was Lord of the Rings, now this. Is there anything left that Geekdom can keep to itself without sharing it with the clueless public?!!

I wonder if everyone gets a free Babel Fish at the cinema.

FRUSTRATED

FRUSTRATED

Is it me or do I have this sense that everyone has totally given up on the whole Philippine political scene. I bet the BMW and Ford dealerships are looking forward to the elections. Think of all those newly elects lining up in their office.

Here's an idea, let's all set up our own political party that deals with real issues. And I don't mean becoming a leftist mouthpiece or a special interest group. I mean a real practical political party that understands what we all need.

I promise to line up in the Toyota dealership. A bit more economical.

One Cool Clip!

This clip is really fascinating. The power of technology thru art.

Impressive.

Hawking a battered husband? - The Times of India

Hawking a battered husband? - The Times of India

"Professor Stephen Hawking , the multi-millionaire scientist from Cambridge, England, who gave the world his best-selling, eponymous 'A Brief History of Time' and a logical explanation for the origins of the universe and myriad baby universes, is apparently being investigated by police for a series of inexplicable assaults. Bizzarely, the assaults are alleged to be on him and the accused is Hawking's second wife, Elaine Mason..."

Here's another bit about this story.

Sad. Sad. Sad. Despite a few comments that this is karma for dumping his first wife for Elaine, it's just sad.

CONNECTIONS

CONNECTIONS

I had problem with my connection because of my connection! Seems there was nothing wrong with it after all! Yup. Stupid is as stupid does. And to think I used a really really (and I mean really) powerful connection over at PLDT to look into my problem just yesterday.

So what happened?

Well, when we had our floor re-tiled, I had to move the computer out of the way. After a couple of days, I put it back. Except when I was putting the jacks back up, I mistakenly plugged the line jack to the phone jack and vice versa. Never did check that again till this morning when I was bored out my wits.

Going berserk and having withdrawal symptoms for more than a month over something as trivial as that. And I consider myself half an uber geek. I mean, I know my way around computers. This one's for the books, I tell ya. Wonder if this is the same thing as those WMDs over in Iraq.

Funny thing was, PLDT told me that my DSL was cut because of my unpaid bill that was already paid. So I waited and waited. It really doesn't pay to be nice and courteous... and patient.

So excuse me while I really rev up Mozilla Firebird and check out on things I have missing out on.

A CLUE! A CLUE

A CLUE! A CLUE!

Remember Steve from Blues Clues? Ever wonder what's up with him after he left the show?

"...Now Mr. Burns, who lives in Brooklyn, is shedding the rugby shirt and khakis—he refers to the pants, derisively, as "The Pleats"—to try and become … an alternative-rock star..."

Wonder what songs he'll sing? Something like "Blue nailed Magenta and now they're all Green"?

I think only parents would get that.

MELTDOWN

I'm going on one month still without a connection. Really my fault for not paying my bill on time. But then again, poverty can really be refreshing.
